For those who don’t know Tim he is a phenomenal photographer. His portfolio of GRC 771 in Detroit is one of my favorite GORUCK galleries to go through. The pictures are amazing and I hope that one day I will be able to capture an event like he does. With that being said Tim completed his first GRC recently with Bert as his Cadre. He wrote up a pretty long narrative of the whole event which is definitely worth a read.
I really don’t care about the fact that you did pushups with me. I don’t give a shit about getting smoked on a hillside with you. I couldn’t care less about the pain I endured with you. It was just pain. What matters to me was sharing your stories. Sharing those fourteen hours of our lives together. Not getting to know just your names but getting to know you. I can’t wait to speak with you again. I hope that somewhere, some time, our paths will cross. – Timothy Galloway
What struck me from the beginning was Tim’s view of the event… which is pretty much the same view that I have. It’s great that we’re all here working out together but my favorite part of a GORUCK event is talking to the people there with me. I mean I know why I signed up for this madness but I’m always curious what drives other people to show up. Was it for a friend? Are they turning a certain age and this is them proving that they still have what it takes? No matter what the reason is I love getting to know why people are there.
The narrative is broken up into two parts: the event and the gear. Although the narrative is short on pictures (Tim was participating so he couldn’t shoot at the same time) the gear section has some beautiful pictures of his equipment post-event. If you’re looking for a good read this Friday or just want to view some amazing pictures I highly recommend checking out his website.

So, I stumbled upon this while looking through my site for some images for another project that I’m working on.
Thanks for the write-up, man.
Best.
